JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic                                             Division: Packaging

Department: Maintenance                                                           Status: Hourly

Reporting Supervisor: Maintenance Manager                      

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION

While working in a safe, effective manner, keeping quality in mind at all times while performing job function. Work in a cooperative team environment to carry out the preventative maintenance program, repair, modify and overhaul the plant equipment and building.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ability to perform all functions, above standard, for the Maintenance level 1 position.
  2. Understand oil & lubrication (types); isolate issues through diagnosing used oils & lubrications and PM tasks.
  3. Understand, repair and install basic plumbing.
  4. Pipe fitting – black iron, copper, galvanized.
  5. Know and understand all equipment locations and assist in repairs.
  6. Replace basic mechanical parts – bearings, gears.
  7. Repair, install, replace and test equipment and appliances using hand tool and testing equipment.
  8. Inspect, analyze and troubleshoot mechanical equipment.
  9. Knowledge of tools, materials, methods and techniques associated with routine maintenance work.
  10. Perform the preventative maintenance tasks.
  11. Complete work orders and paper work in a timely manner.
  12. Qualified/ proficient in Lock out/Tag out procedure.
  13. Perform other duties and assignments as assigned.

 

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Follow all Company rules and guidelines.
  2. Working knowledge of all Emergency and Safety procedures, policies and procedures, documentation procedures, equipment operating parameters and all HAZMAT, MSDS, EPA, and OSHA requirements.
  3. Cooperate with fellow employees.
  4. Is waste conscious of efforts and materials at all times.
  5. Strive to achieve quality product.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  1. Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Must be a team player with a “can do” attitude.
  3. Should possess basic mechanical skills.
  4. Must be capable of working in hot, dusty areas.
  5. Must be capable of standing for long periods of time.
  6. Must be able to frequently lift and carry 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  7. Must have basic troubleshooting abilities.
  8. Must have good communication skills.
  9. Must have basic computer and math skills.
  10. Must be able to work with machine shop tools
  11. Ability to be flexible to work demands outside of regular work shift.
  12. Able to replace Johnson joints, steam components
  13. BHS-Teflon seal bar re-build
  14. Fosber anvil pads replacements and adjustments
  15. Able to change Bobst gripper bar
  16. Able to rebuild Bobst gripper bar.

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

While performing the duties of this job the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally is exposed to fumes or other airborne particles and vibration.

 

Noise levels in the work environment usually in the range of 85 decibels.

 

Employee will be subject to mandatory testing for drugs and/or alcohol on a random, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty, and follow-up basis.
