Position Summary:

 

The Technician 1 position is responsible to thoroughly understanding and be capable of completing most tasks of the thermoforming process on a daily basis in either the plug assist or GN departments. Knowledge in both departments is highly recommended and will be required at times. Responsible too routinely and effectively resolve routine problems related to the thermoforming process and machine. Works closely and communicates with the shift supervisor, setup and maintenance teams daily. Involved in the training of other team members in the Jr positions. Safety is the top priority at all times for yourself and all other coworkers.

 

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete all task safely and follow all company safety policies and procedures outlined in the safety manual. Ensure all others are working safely and following all company policies and procedures. Participate in several of the company safety meetings yearly. Must maintain a clean working environment at all times.
  • Ensure all machines are setup and running products that are meeting the quality expectation set forth in the QAP for that particular job. Good quality of workmanship and detail are required for all setups or task completed. Must follow all GMP’S in the policies and procedures at all times.
  • Review the production schedule on a daily basis for changes, needs and priorities. The schedule can change daily and being prepared ahead of time is crucial. Utilize the production schedule to prepare tooling for upcoming production needs. Ensure all jobs are running to estimate to meet the production schedule needs.
  • Ensure that equipment is running to specification at all times. Any safety concerns need to be giving immediately to the attention of maintenance department, manager or supervisors. Accountable to complete assigned line reviews of the machines for damaged, broken or none functioning components. All repairs needed or completed to the equipment or the facility for any reason needs documentation in the Facility Dude. Technician 1 position at times will need the capability of working with maintenance to complete needed repairs to equipment.
  • Accountable for tooling inspections before, during and after a run to ensure the tool is at optimum performance. Any items found during the run that could affect the process need fixing immediately by the technician team or if needed the tool room. All other items need to have a tooling NCMR written for documentation of the needed repair when the job has been completed. Ensure all tools removed from a machine at the end of a run are, cleaned for storage. In idle time or if the tool room is over capacity you could be requested to assist them.
  • Ensure that all jobs are running to the estimated run rate and index. Continuously evaluate the machines process to ensure they are setup and running correctly for optimum performance and damage control. Work with the setup manager on continuous improvements to setup techniques and processes that could reduce time and cost.
  • Communicate daily and work as a team with the technician staff, maintenance staff, shift supervisors and the set up Manager. Discuss possible resource requirements and allocations as indicated by the schedule. Interact professionally with all coworkers / operators to help resolve machine process issues, which will increase efficiencies. Needs to read and utilize email daily to receive and send needed or required information.
  • Ensure all tooling components are prepped prior to the scheduled start date.
  • Set up machines safely with attention to detail according to set up parameters and individual job expectations. Make changes and adjustments to the machine or process as needed for optimum performance. Main responsibility for machine set up will be the Plug assist or GN machine department but should strive for the capability to complete both work centers setups and process adjustments. Utilize proper techniques for setup and process adjustment needs. Involvement to new job tooling start up including setup and processing as well as any prototyping needs. Certified to operate stand up, tow motor and floor jack.
  • Complete all required documentation. This includes Setup check sheets, Work order setup sign off, Job end reviews, Process adjustments, Ncmr’s, Facility dude log and any other required documentation.
  • All of the above as well as other tasks may be requested from management to complete company needs.

 
 Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years thermoforming experience or equivalent.
  • Safe work habits, technical and mechanical capabilities, good knowledge of machines and processes.
  • Good documentation and communication skills as well as a high level of attention to detail.
  • Need to be capable of lifting 50lbs.
