Position Summary:

Responsible managing the day to day purchase orders to ensure the materials are ordered and received in a timely manner for continuous operation with a minimal amount of downtime.

 

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain quotations, make supplier selections, release purchase orders for both direct and indirect materials, raw materials, finished goods in conjunction with production requirements and in some cases maintenance needs.
  • Prepare purchase orders by verifying specifications, price, obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; and approval from the requisitioning department.
  • Interacts with the production department daily to ensure the continuous flow or required materials, order follow up to ensure timely delivery supporting daily production, and expediting materials as required.
  • Track vendor history of on time delivery, quality problems and maintain the Supplier Performance Card.
  • Participate in manufacturing and inventory team meetings, such as inventory control and shop order management, ensuring best practices are made in the interest of the company.
  • Work with Quality department to ensure the incoming order is properly inspected and facilitate feedback to suppliers.
  • Work with Accounts Payable to make sure the invoices are processed and approved in a timely manner including resolving any discrepancies, reconciling invoices, validating receipts, checking prices, creating chargebacks and or other deductions.
  • Responsible for analyzing data of different inventory levels of received goods and propose optimal solutions on ordering method utilizing min/max level, ordering point, safety stock level, and cost reductions on purchased parts.
  • Analyze data to support Strategic Sourcing Initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to all GMP’s and BRC requirements.
     

Candidate Requirements:

  • Associates Degree or equivalent or minimum 4 years purchasing experience, Purchasing certification a plus.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • IFS ERP software experience preferred.

Safety Expectations:

  • Safety is always the number one priority.  All actions taken will be conducted in the safest manner possible and without risking injury to yourself or others. 
  • Follow all Safe Practices and safety policies and procedures.
  • Report all accident, incidents, safety violations, near misses or unsafe conditions to your Supervisory IMMEDIATELY.  If any bodily fluid (bloodborne pathogens) are present, it must be properly cleaned by a trained employee.

  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices while in production areas
  • Adhere to all GFSI standards policies and procedures in regards to product Safety, Quality and Legality
  • Adhere to and enforce procedures in regards to Food Defense and HACCP
