Job Title:

Production Scheduling and Materials Manager

 

Position Summary:

The Production Scheduling and Materials Manager is responsible for the production schedule of the site (3 manufacturing plants), inventory management, Physical Inventory and Cycle Count Programs, and records.  Responsible for the consumption and disposition of SLOB inventory.  Responsible for purchasing raw materials and miscellaneous supplies for production of Finished Goods.  This includes creating a process and plan that analyzes current production/capacity needs and creates the most efficient production schedules for the plant.

 

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • Work daily with Corporate Production Scheduler and Sales & Operations Planning Department to develop, publish and communicate production schedule to supervisors in order to meet customer delivery dates.
  • Development and maintenance of an accurate and effective Work Measurement System; Ensures effective productivity measurements are established for identified functions in plant to fulfill orders from manufacture to shipment to customer.
  • Evaluation, analysis, recommendation and implementation of enhancements to existing work methods flows and processes to increase throughput.
  • Coordinate and supervise shipping, receiving and warehousing procedures and personnel activities for efficient material flows throughout the site.
  • Work daily with Production Scheduler(s) to develop, publish and communicate production schedule to supervisors in order to meet customer delivery dates.
  • Responsible for accurate and thorough inventory management and records.  Has primary responsibility for preparation of month end reconciliation reports and adjustments.
  • Coordinate with site management to identify supply needs.  Prepare orders and documentation required for procurement activity, quantity and vendor management.  
  • Serve as customer contact for the plant either directly with customers or via the corporate customer service department.  Process complaints, samples, and customer correspondence.
  • Responsible for accurate and thorough inventory management and records.  Has primary responsibility for preparation of month end production, inventory, and reconciliation reports and adjustments.
  • Responsible for the planning and execution of Physical Inventory and Cycle Counts.
  • Coordinate design artwork flow, plant print preparation, die inventory, and release scheduling.
  • Control inventory levels and ensure availability of materials throughout the normal course of business and during emergencies.
  • Material management, railcar management, production scheduling, shipping/receiving, and logistics at all points of the Value Stream.
  • Responsible for the consumption, disposition, and elimination of SLOB inventory.
  • Provide data for the Plant Manager and Corporate for preparation of Sales Budget, Quarterly Reviews and Long-Range Forecast information.
  • Support the preparation of annual budget.
  • Supervise, evaluate and coach direct reports.

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or relevant field
  • Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment preferred
  • Prior managerial experience required
  • Solid understanding of supply chain and inventory management systems
  • Advanced knowledge of forecasting and budgeting processes
  • Experience in an industrial environment preferred
  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office with advanced Excel proficiency
  • Outstanding organizational, communication and leadership skills
  • Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and motivate others to meet demands
