Job Title:

Forklift Driver

 

Rate of Pay: DOE

 

Position Summary:

The Forklift driver serves as support personnel to the manufacturing departments. Each employee considers food safety and consumer safety while preforming work.  Participates in GMP and food safety training.  Follows GMP policy. Reports all food safety concerns with urgency.

 

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

1.    Drivers must retrieve resin in a timely fashion for the extrusion operators and place the bins where instructed using their lift trucks.  
2.    Place a plastic bin liner in a bin and fill, from the silo automatic feed station, with resin.  
3.    When filling bins of resin with the draw station all bins need to be covered. Bin lids are located next to the card board scrap bin. Lids can be taped or stapled. 
4.    Empty bins are removed, weighed, emptied of debris, and restored in the warehouse.
5.    Lift trucks are equipped with on-board scales.  
6.    Resin usage is recorded on bin tags.
7.    Remove plastic liner and break down empty cardboard bins.  
8.    Assist in bringing cylinders, bag machines, or other equipment to designated workstations as requested.
9.    Return cylinders, bag machines, and other equipment when finished.  
10.    Specified finished products are covered with a plastic hood and fed into the heat shrink tunnel.
11.    Rolls of shrink bags are stored in the warehouse and are retrieved by the lift driver by rolling/pushing them off the pallet onto the forklift fork.  
12.    Rolls are transported to the shrink tunnel by forklift.
13.    Visually inspect all incoming materials being delivered to manufacturing, such as pallets, boxes, packaging supplies, for debris or any other foreign materials that could impact on quality of products being produced.
14.    In the Conversion Department, drivers provide all needed roll stock and needed palletized box supplies.  Used cores are transported back to the core cutter for recycle.  Finished product is transported to the warehouse / shipping area.
15.    The Flex Department roll stock is to be furnished to them in a timely manner and all finished product is transported to the warehouse area.  Scrap plastic, in bins, is removed from the work area as necessary.  Scrap hanging outside the edge of the bin is to be pushed, tucked, or otherwise brought back inside the bin before transporting.  Bins must be stacked neatly in bin storage area.           

 

                                         

Candidate Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous Forklift experience required​​​​​​​
  • Basic math skills required
  • Good communication skills required
  • Ability to pass a color blind test
  • Some previous computer data entry preferred
