Quality Manager


Position Summary:

Under the management of Plant Manager, the Quality Manager is a key member of the Novolex Leadership Team.  The Quality Manager is responsible for implementing and managing the plant’s Quality Assurance Program.  With the supervisory role of the Process Technician team, this individual will also partner with all members in the plant to write, validate, and ensure that the plant’s Quality Assurance Program is maintained and followed as well as provide optimum service and quality for all products.


Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Quality Assurance and Customer meetings.
  • Identify and implement appropriate Quality Assurance testing policies & procedures.
  • Plan, lead and coordinate quality-related activities, including the product quality metrics analyses, and lead investigations relating to quality issues.
  • Have decision-making authority regarding exceptional products and food safety.
  • Lead and manage the development of Quality Assurance Programs.  Track the effectiveness of these programs including standards, training and quality documentation and strive for continuous improvements.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and enterprise to ensure initiatives meet quality standards.
  • Monitor and update of quality documents, procedures, work instructions, forms, raw material specifications, packaging, in-process products and finished products.
  • Effectively hire, train, manage, motivate and develop Process Technician team.
  • Stimulate and cultivate “nobody gets hurt mentality” throughout the facility, and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Participate and prepare for all Customer & External audits.
  • Provide assistance to ensure Quality System programs, processes and procedures are implemented successfully and function as designed throughout the operation in order to ensure the quality and integrity of manufactured products and services.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on defective materials.
  • Ensure consistent and thorough follow-up to non-conformities as it relates to quality & customer complaints.
  • Maintain a root cause database and provide feedback to customers when required.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time & other duties and tasks as assigned.


Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience required.
  • Preferred 2-4 years combined of technical, manufacturing, and/or quality management experience preferably in a printing, converting, or other flexible packaging operation or a combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Exposure in a manufacturing environment utilizing TQM, ISO, Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma is preferred.
  • Quality Assurance experience preferably in a poly environment is preferred.
  • The ability to utilize structured problem solving methods to deliver results.
  • Demonstrated competence to work and communicate effectively with all levels in the organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with willingness and ability to learn new systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
