Financial Accounting Analyst

Reports to: Financial Controller

Location – Brampton, Ontario

 

This role has primary responsibilities for accounting for inventory, periodic cost rolls for new items, provide support and analytics for the distribution departmental expenses for the Brampton site, which holds approximately $30M in inventory assets. Secondary responsibilities will include analysis of monthly operational results and publishing of various reports.

 

Position Description:

 

  • This hands-on position provides financial reporting and analytics to the Brampton finance and leadership team for inventories across three manufacturing facilities.
  • In this role, the analyst will be responsible for improving the cycle count process, will set the appropriate frequency to achieve the desired cycles in a year, and will work with the warehouse management to design and fully support the annual physical count, external audit, and analytics of the count results.
  • The position needs to quickly learn the full scope of inventory processes across the entire Brampton site from receipt of raw materials, packaging, work-in-process, finished goods through deliveries to customers. The analyst position then identifies areas to improve controls through business process changes, process monitoring, and financial reporting/analytics. This position is expected to assist in the development and then the execution of an improved inventory process.
  • Position designs and develops reports and analytics to evaluate the financial and operational performance of inventory management to include monthly inventory reconciliation, slow-moving, excess, and obsolete inventory analytics, These analytics include all Brampton inventory locations and warehouses, production areas, off-site warehouses, and inventories consigned to customer locations.
  • All positions within the finance team have a clear, uncompromising responsibility to ensure internal controls and business policies are followed. The position helps to maintain a strong, cost-effective controls environment ensuring compliance with Novolex internal accounting policies, procedures, and reporting regulations.

Education & Work Experience:

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business
  • 3 – 5 years financial and accounting experience
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Experience building more complex financial models for manufacturing – financial reporting and variance analysis.
  • Strong experience and highly proficient in information technology and financial applications, with hands-on working experience; requires exceptional Excel knowledge.
