Position Summary:

Responsible for ensuring that plant equipment and facilities are kept in good electrical/mechanical/instrumentation repair and working order, enabling a continuous production mode.  Other responsibilities are, but not limited to the following:

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain adherence to Company safety and quality policies and guidelines.
  • Highly skilled mechanical maintenance tasks including installation.
  • Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment. This may include, but not limited to, such equipment as motors, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Highly skilled in installing, testing, calibrating, troubleshooting, overhauling and repairing a wide variety of instrumentation and electrical devices and equipment.
  • Must also determine and carry out maintenance of repair actions required to return the equipment to effective operating conditions.
  • Must lubricate and clean parts, perform maintenance planning, layout work, welding and metal fabrication as required.
  • Troubleshooting electrical systems including PLCs, variable drives and field devices.
  • Experience with 3 phase and high voltage electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and replace electrical motors.
  • In downtime situations, must be able to analyze cause of breakdown with equipment.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing industrial ovens, HVAC systems and air compressors.
  • Performing preventive and predictive maintenance inspections using diagnostic tools and test equipment and make necessary corrections to keep equipment from failing.
  • Must have the ability to read and understand manuals, blueprint schematic and testing specifications.
  • Must have good computer skills and thorough knowledge of PID’s, Loop drawings, electrical schematics and PLC’s.
  • Troubleshoot and loop check PLC’s, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using proper test equipment to repair or replace faulty components, such as sensors, relays, switches, motors, modules or fixtures.
  • Assemble and disassemble all types of electronic process controls, pneumatic controls and hydraulic systems and components.
  • Inspect and maintain switchgear, PLC’s, transformers, buss bars, circuit breakers, and wiring connections in power distribution sub-stations.
  • Test continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components using voltmeters, ohmmeters, meggers, etc.
  • Follow and adhere to safety lockout procedures and strictly adhere to plant safety rules as well as follow excellent housekeeping practices and GMPs to help maintain a clean work environment.
  • Must have the ability to communicate, motivate, and train while utilizing input and performing analytical, logical and objective in problem solving skills.
  • Assist with maintaining and keeping inventory of spare parts.
  • Actively participate in assigned safety related initiatives.
  • Participate in and maintain departmental shop 5S standards.


Candidate Requirements:

  • Stable employment history with a minimum three years of experience as a Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing environment (with experience in both Mechanical, Electrical and PLC)
  • Vocational or technical/trade school education or training required.
  • Must be proficient in the use of hand and power tools and precision measuring and test instruments
  • Experienced in pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Excellent skills in root cause analysis
  • Mastery in all aspects of electrical and mechanical maintenance
  • Good communication skills
  • Must be team oriented
  • Commitment to follow all plant electrical/maintenance practices
  • Willingness and ability to wear all required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to work in heat and cold
  • Willingness and ability to learn new jobs and skills
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a group
  • Experience with SAP or other CMMS
