Shipping Lead


Position Summary:

This position is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the warehouse and shipping department. 

Including the moving finished goods, utilizing a fork truck, and maintaining levels of customer compliance.  Communicating with customer service for OTIF and outside vendors for inbound shipments.  Responsible for supervising the activities related to safety, security, sanitation and cleanliness of the docks and all related equipment. 

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • Request feedback on task completion or warehouse worker involvement for scheduling purposes. 
  • Notify management of any changes to scheduling by email.  Be prepared to cover that shift if no other coverage shows up or can be scheduled.
  • Lead will delegate, motivate, and empower shipping helper team members. 
  • Schedule training according to managements guidelines
  • Supervise, plan and assign warehouse team to meet schedules to handle daily volume. 
  • Be prepared to assist in daily movement of finished goods when volume of movement calls for more drivers or we are needing coverage for short staff/vacations.
  • Ensure customer service standards are achieved by directing the activities of the warehouse team and coordinating with customer service and other departments.
  • Ensure all products are unloaded and placed for proper inventory control.
  • Ensure that all warehouse equipment is maintained and functional.  (All mechanical issues need to be addressed with maintenance with manager copied in on all communications.) 
  • Ensure all safety policies are followed and any violations reported to management.
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed.
  • Assists with inventory racking, inventory cycle counting, and reporting.
  • Daily meeting with management and shipping/inventory counterpart
  • Weekly meeting with management and entire team
  • Answer after hour’s needs, journal after hours work times, turn in time weekly
  • Provide input but support decisions made by the company.
  • Document and communicate idea’s or need of team members
  • Lead will work to assist management in achieving goals and providing direction to team members


Candidate Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Stand up and sit down forklift certification and experience required
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in manufacturing/warehouse environment. 
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, UPS Software and/or FedEx software, Baan, BDX, Transplace Web portal, XPO system portal 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 


Physical Requirements:

Manufacturing work environment.  Constant physical activities are required for this position.  Such activities include: ability to reach overhead, squat, and bend at the waist; the ability to lift boxes of 60 lbs. or more; ability to climb up and down stairs throughout the shift; tolerance of standing posture continuously throughout the shift; intense walking is involved; able to tolerate working environment with inside excessive hot and cold temperatures.
