Job Title:

Engineering Technician- Corporate Services

 

Position Summary:

This position provides technical support to the Engineering team to install, troubleshoot and assist in process development of systems throughout Novolex in our Plastics Extrusion/ Converting or paper converting operations. This position will also provide assistance to individual plants as needed or requested based on schedules and priorities. This individual will report to one of the Directors of Engineering.

 

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • Support strategic technical projects and programs across multiple sites
  • Support multiple, concurrent projects with independent critical milestone activities
  • Assist in Development equipment and installation specifications
  • Provides construction management leadership to contractors and vendors.
  • Provide onsite training for operation’s personnel
  • Work directly with outside contractors and internal Novelex personnel to complete projects in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Support and participates on project and continuous improvement teams
  • Provides technical expertise to plant and corporate personnel
  • Evaluates the condition and performance of existing plant equipment and facilities
  • Develops designs for facility and production related systems
  • Incorporates personnel safety in all aspects of system designs
  • Functions as a change agent in the implementation of new technology and systems
  • Communicates verbally and in written form to internal and external resources

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Associates Degree (Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related Technical Discipline). Equivalent experience will be considered instead of a degree
  • 5-10+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing environment preferred. Plastics converting and Extrusion or paper converting experience a must.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical and manufacturing process skills/experience. Must be able to use Power and Hand Tools.
  • Must have experience supporting Lean manufacturing activities.
  • Analytical skills and understanding of problem solving techniques/tools.
  • Data-driven, disciplined, objective and detail oriented.
  • Strong communication skills.  Demonstrated ability to act as a business partner, “see the big picture,” and work through ambiguity and change.
  • Advanced computer knowledge with MS Office applications (Excel, Access, etc) and other computer tools and software and a working knowledge of Auto-Cad is a plus.
  • Must be willing to travel 75% of each work week to the Company’s manufacturing sites to support projects and initiatives.
  • Must have valid Passport
  • Must have valid Driver’s license.
  • Must have personnel Credit Card to Travel. Company reimbursement of all proper and necessary charges per company travel policy.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without Company sponsorship.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background and drug screen
