Under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager, this position is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and diagnosing production and process manufacturing equipment onsite, as well as performing modifications, repairs, and preventative/predictive maintenance tasks on existing equipment.  The Electronic Technician (ET) will utilize “Maximo” as the Computerized Maintenance Management System to schedule work, track parts, record hours worked and plan for future work.  Essential to success is a focus on safety in all the actions taken by the ET and of those around them. 

Functions & Key Responsibilities:


  • Electrical Aptitude:
      • Proficiency in the use of electrical test equipment, such as digital multi-meters and oscilloscopes, in order to detect the presence of voltage, faulty wiring, blown fuses, faulty switches, drive and plc communication, terminal ends, circuit boards, breakers and photoelectric controls.
      • Strong troubleshooting of AC/DC circuits, three-phase power systems, AC/DC drives, PLC’s and servo drive systems.
      • Programming various PLC’s, motor drives and servo drives utilizing a laptop and the various equipment software.  Specifically, Siemens S5 PLC, Automation Direct PLC, Allen-Bradley PLC, TI PLC, Yaskawa drives, Baumuller drives and TI PLC.
      • Research equipment / technology for viability and cost in order to replace or improve existing processes.
      • Perform installation of conduit runs, disconnects, fuse boxes, relays, motor controls motors and brushes.
      • Knowledge of PC’s, various operating systems and basic networking is strongly desired.


  • Mechanical Aptitude:
      • Practical knowledge required in mechanics (gears, bearings, pulleys, belts, etc.), pneumatics and hydraulics in order to effectively troubleshoot equipment problems in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
      • Practical knowledge in the use of precision measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, etc.
      • Ability to safely operate shop tools such as cutoff saws, drill press, bench grinder, hydraulic press, vertical band saw and various other hand tools is necessary.
      • Will need to provide general tools – a multimeter will be provided by the company.


Candidate Requirements:

  • Associate’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology is preferred.
  • Strong commitment to all aspects of safety.
  • Solid leadership skills, team oriented, and focused on quality.
  • Attention to detail, a cooperative attitude, and sound work ethics are essential.
  • Ability to work 12 hour day and night rotating shift.
  • Must possess troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodation.

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. 

  • Must have full use of hands, arms and legs to reach in, around, over and under the equipment to facilitate diagnosis and/or repair of equipment.
  • At times, there may include significant pushing, pulling, bending, lifting, walking, stooping, crouching, crawling, repetitive motion, ladder and stair use.
  • Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to use sight, sound, smell, and feel to diagnose variations in equipment performance.
  • The working environment, at times, may be noisy, hot, humid, hazy or cold.
