Maintenance Planner/Scheduler


Position Summary:

The primary role of the Planner/Scheduler is to improve work force productivity and work quality by anticipation and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of labor, parts and materials, tools and equipment, and specialized documentation and equipment.

The Planner/Scheduler is responsible for the planning and scheduling of all non-emergency maintenance work performed in the Facility. He/ She coordinates between the various maintenance groups, Supervisors and Managers. The Position will take the primary lead on the set-up, implementation and upkeep of the CMMS system. This position will also take the lead on the document writing and scheduling of the PM’s.

This position requires that the person have both technical Knowledge and good Human relation skills. The Planner/Scheduler is a key member of a cross functional team that supports the improvement of plant reliability and the move from reactive to proactive maintenance work. This is a highly skilled position within the maintenance team that requires prior experience with equipment, processes, and workflow.


Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • Fill-in support for the Parts Manager.
  • Ability to learn / utilize a CMMS – particularly PMC and SAP
  • Utilize PMC and SAP to plan maintenance functions other than emergency repairs.
  • Work with mechanics to develop time and part requirements for pm’s, and planned maintenance work.
  • Monitor mechanics to ensure work orders are completed and closed.
  • Regular cycle count of parts and CMMS update.
  • Upkeep / Organization / Cleaning of the multiple parts locations.
  • Receive and put away of delivered parts.
  • Follow all PPE policies, wearing steel toed shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, hair nets/beard nets, etc. as required.
  • Follow GMP in compliance with all food safety requirements.
  • Cylinder management and storage.
  • Update and develop parts sub-assembly lists.
  • May drive fork lift and use moveable pallets.
  • Provides minor mechanical maintenance and repairs.
  • Work with Senior Mechanics on maintenance and projects.
  • May run errands.
  • Participate in Pre-Shift and other Production and Communications Meetings.
  • Support efforts to achieve output and product quality that meets plant objectives.
  • Perform various other duties as requested by the leadership.
  • May be required to complete training courses as determined by management.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Strong Knowledge of CMMs systems and related systems software
  • Strong working knowledge of proper OSHA safety practices and procedures
  • Good organization skills
  • Strong understanding of skilled crafts and their abilities and skill sets.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability for independent decision-making
  • Must be flexible and responsive to the needs of the business.
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive in problem solving and to lead the resolution of problems.
  • Strong Technical writing skills.
  • At least 3 years of manufacturing experienced.
  • Must be able to lift loads of 50lbs.
  • Electrical & Hydraulic experience a plus.
