12-hour Day Shift -  7AM-7PM, Rotating Shift, 36 hours one week, 48 hours the next.

Position Summary:

Ensure the products being produced in the Florence facility are meeting customer specifications, per established corporate and plant guidelines and procedures.


Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • Continuously perform all required tasks in a safe manner, adhering to all established safety rules and procedures.  Must take immediate action to correct and/or report any unsafe conditions and hazards.
  • Keep work area clean and organized, per 5S standards.
  • Follow all applicable food service policies and procedures.
  • Follow all PPE policies, wearing steel toed shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, hair nets/beard nets, etc. as required.
  • Reporting and documenting any quality issues to machine operator, supervisors, and upper plant management.
  • Collecting and cataloging samples retrieved from designated machines.
  • Performing random audits of skids and bales of finished goods to determine quality of product.
  • Perform quality testing in QA Lab for paper tensile strength, handle strength, ink rub resistance, bar code scanning, basis weight testing.  Must have knowledge of or training on QA Lab equipment - tensile tester, Sutherland rub tester, bar code scanner, and gram scale.
  • Using Microsoft Excel, prepare reports and document test and audit results.
  • Assist in investigating customer complaints and help to resolve quality issues.         
  • Training and communication to new and current employees on NOVOLEX Duro quality standards, quality policies, and quality procedures, as per our customer requirements.
  • Follow all Food Contact Packaging Safety requirements as outline in the SQF Quality Manual.
  • Continually monitor all aspects of quality, ensuring all corporate and plant management quality procedures are followed, thus improving quality and meeting waste standards.
  • Collect and catalog samples retrieved from designated machines.
  • Investigate customer complaints and resolve or help to resolve quality issues.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.


Candidate Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Reading, writing and basic math skills and knowledge of Duro quality standards are needed.  One year quality control experience is preferred.
  • Must be computer literate. Must have knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. 
  • Must be capable of paying strict attention to quality detail in order to spot quality flaws and take immediate action.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with other employees and management.  Decisions will be made involving the quality control of finished goods and or work in process.
  • Self-managing with organization and time management skills.
  • Must have good eyesight, with the ability to distinguish color.  Will be tested during pre-employment physical.
