Manager – Financial Planning & Analysis - Commercial

 

Position Summary:

Novolex’s Duro business unit with annual sales of approximately $0.8 billion is a manufacturer of paper-based bags and the products are used for a wide variety of industries and applications, including foodservice, grocery, distribution, and lawn refuse bags. Currently, the Duro business unit operates 8 manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and one in Mexico.

Novolex’s Duro business unit is looking for a high-energy, exceptional Manager, FP&A - Commercial to lead all reporting, analysis, forecasting, and budgeting related to the sales organization. The position will be based in Florence, Kentucky.

                                                                           

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • This position serves as the key financial support for the Duro sales organization. This position is a key finance leader role for the Duro business team and will have extensive visibility and interaction with senior levels of the Novolex Finance and Sales leadership teams.
  • The primary focus of the role is to report and analyze sales to enable the sales, product management, and pricing teams to understand sales performance, sales trends and forward-looking sales projections; critical to the success of the potential candidate is her / his ability to not simply report but to analyze and interpret sales analytics and make recommendations to management.
  • The position will be required to develop and implement sales databases and analytical reports and tools to consolidate, report, and analyze sales and sales margin performance in a manner that enables sales and product management to easily understand performance and trends and to facilitate recommendations to improve results.  Sales database and reporting requirements will be developed with critical input from key Business segment stakeholders – Sales Management, Finance Management as well as Commercial resources – and will be supported by Information Technology resources
  • In conjunction with VP – FP&A and Manager, FP&A – Operations lead the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) process for the business unit.
  • Take a lead role in analyzing weekly, monthly and quarterly sales results and preparing business reporting to business unit and executive management teams for sales performance. Building sales and income “bridges / walks” must be a previously acquired skill set.
  • Monthly analytics include in-depth analyses of sales performance across product lines, customers and market segments; familiarity with concepts of “volume, price and mix” drivers to sales performance must be a previously acquired skill set.
  • Overall responsibility to create and maintain a high-quality Commercial business analysis function. Novolex Finance is not a back-office function and is expected to be a key member of the Duro business team.
  • Quickly develop an understanding of Duro financial performance and strategic imperatives, especially as they relate to sales performance; and gain a broad understanding of the business’ market segment including products, customers and competitive environment.
  • Improve financial analysis and planning processes for sales information for product, customer and market segments including volume and pricing trends. The company has a consolidating sales data cube and this role will help maximize its utilization and effectiveness.
  • Assist in the creation of detailed profitability analysis that will allow product and customer profitability reporting.
  • Assume key responsibilities and drive improvements in the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) process, coordinating activities with the VP – FP&A & Manager, FP&A - Operations.
  • Take a lead role in and assist the Duro business unit to implement a future ERP system.

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Four-year bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, MBA or CPA is preferred but not required.
  • 7 – 10 years of experience in business analysis, financial planning and reporting.
  • Exceptional proficiency in building financial models and knowledge of excel and must have a strong understand of standard costing systems.
  • Must have previous experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, with packaging or chemicals/materials industry experience highly desirable.
  • Must have previous management experience building and leading a high functioning, professional finance team.
  • Previous experience working with integrated ERP systems and highly proficient in information technology financial applications, strong preference for Microsoft AX, SAP and Hyperion experience.
