While working in a safe, effective manner, they will keep quality in mind at all times. Assist printer lead operator and machine operator in setting up and operating flexographic printing press to print designs and lettering on paper for use in packaging products. Troubleshoots problems associated with printing press and performs minor maintenance and repair. Ensures safety of all personnel and attempts to achieve the highest quality possible for all finished goods. Performs all other duties or tasks as required by supervision.  Considers food safety and consumer safety while preforming work.  Participates in GMP and food safety training.  Follows GMP policy. Reports all food safety and quality concerns with urgency.




  1. Set up:
  1. Assist operator in setting up all jobs
  2. Get all material needed for next job at press side.
  3. Have all ink ready for next job.
  4. Clean all cylinders and plates removed from press.
    5.   Assist in getting press up and running ASAP.
    6.   Cleans and inspects all sleeves, mandrills, and anilox cylinders
  1. Plate mounting:
  1. Must be able to mount plates in specified time frame.
  2. Make sure plates are mounted correctly against mylar and multi up proofs.
  3. Perform minor maintenance when needed.
  1. Ink mixing:
  1. Must be able to mix and blend ink to customer specifications.
  2. Must match blended ink against the x-rite reading to ensure quality.
  1. Anilox cleaner:
  1. Must be able to clean rolls as needed.
  2. Load data into machine to ensure proper cleaning of rolls.
  1. Operating:
  1. Assists operator in the day to day running of the machine
  2. Compares samples from end of each roll produced for color, register, sharpness, position and ink adhesion.
  3. Keep signed sample in designated location.
  4. Stops presses if quality is not there.
  5. Check web guide frequently while roll is running. Maintain all log books on how press ran during shift.
  6. Sees that inks are proper viscosity and pH levels then charts on proper form.
  1. Safety and housekeeping:
  1. Removes all waste and unessential materials from under and around machine area.
  2. Maintains a clean press.
  3. Removes all inks and oils off floor and surrounding areas.
  4. Clean ink pans on a daily basis.
  5. Uses personal safety equipment properly.
  6. Ensures all guarding and limit switches are working properly daily.
  7. Knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out procedures.
  8. Observes all Safety Rules.
  1. Completion of required paperwork and tasks:
  1. Tiling each roll and identifying with date/shift/roll number/time/operator.
  2. Performing X-rite check on each roll.
  3. Completing “Printer Roll Log”.
  4. Completing “Cleaning Checklist”.
  5. Tracking ink usage.
  6. Production & Scrap Reporting.
  1. Additional responsibilities:
  1. Ensures that no unsafe practices or carelessness is being demonstrated by crew members.
  2. Motivate fellow employees.
  3. Is waste conscious of efforts and materials at all times.
  4. Ensures that fellow co-workers are producing a quality product.
  5. Performs all other duties or tasks as required by supervision.
  6. Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
  7. Ensures no personal items, food, or drink are on manufacturing floor.
  8. Keeps doors and windows closed
  9. No items carried in shirt pockets
  10. Keeps all items off white line
  11. Ensures all containers must have MSDS tags and have contents labeled.
  12. May be required to operate a Forklift.




  1. Must be able to perform all functions of running the press.
  2. Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  3. Must be a team player with a “can do” attitude.
  4. Should possess basic mechanical skills.
  5. Capable of working in hot environment and in areas where inks and lubricants are used.
  6. Must be capable of standing for long periods of time.
  7. Must be able to frequently lift and carry 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  8. Must have good troubleshooting and problem solving abilities.
  9. Must have good communication skills.
  10. Must have basic computer and math skills.
  11. Must be able to read basic English.
  12. Due to fluctuating production levels employees may be asked to work beyond normally scheduled work hours or less than normally scheduled work hours. Employees may be required to work weekends or partial weekends on a scheduled basis.  You may also be called in during non-scheduled hours.
  13. Regularly required to stand, sit, move about facility, climb stairs, bend, twist, kneel, crouch or crawl, use hands and fingers to touch, handle, or feel objects, tools and controls, grasp, push, pull, reach with hands and arms, lift above shoulder level. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
    While performing the duties of this job the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally is exposed to fumes or other airborne particles and vibration.
    Noise levels in the work environment is usually in the range of 85 decibels.
    Employee will be subject to mandatory testing for drugs and/or alcohol on a random, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty, and follow-up basis.
