Job Title:

Production Supervisor

 

Position Summary:

While working in a safe, effective manner, keeping quality in mind at all times, working in a cooperative team environment to supervise all functions related to manufacturing process.  Supervise work procedures and practices to ensure consistency of production and quality.  This position is 6:30 pm to 6:30 am rotating shift.  

            

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to motivate, train, and lead.  Be able to be firm, friendly, and fair at all times.
  • Make decisions utilizing subordinates’ input while performing analytical, logical, objective problem solving using the 4M’s – methods, manpower, material, and machinery.

Safety:

  • Investigate all safety incidents and complete incident reports.
  • Investigate "close calls" and complete incident reports.
  • Review operator’s equipment to ensure it is safe to use.
  • Perform daily safety audits in your departments for LOTO usage and other hazards.
  • Take action with your maintenance staff on shift to correct immediate concerns.
  • Write safety MWO (Maintenance Work Orders)
  • Enforce all plant safety/PPE rules.

Quality:

  • Ensure that quality product is produced from each machine center.
  • All products approved for shipment meet customer’s quality expectations.
  • Ensure that all testing is done correctly and that paperwork documenting this is complete and accurate.
  • Enforce all plant rules pertaining to ASI standards.
  • Ensure that all rejected material is properly segregated, and hold tickets and reports are completed.

Production:

  • Review all reports for accuracy.
  • Manage shift to attain production and scrap goals to standards.
  • Keep track of inventory of all material
  • Organize on-shift maintenance resources to maximize productivity.
  • Ensure work order system is followed.
  • Fill out shift supervisor’s reports in a timely manner.
  • Understand operating standards and take action to maintain equipment and production targets are at budgeted levels.

Human Resources:

  • Perform probationary employee reviews per policy.
  • Administer disciplinary action when required.
  • Ensure time and attendance system is correct and completed daily.
  • Coordinate shift activities, redistributing personnel as required maximizing productivity.
  • Enforce plant rules.
  • Counsel, coach, motivate, and train employees to perform at manufacturing expectations and maintain positive labor relations.
  • Housekeeping at highest levels at all times.
  • Ensure that an acceptable standard has been reached before turning over to the relief supervisor utilizing Gemba walks.
  • Ensure that all SQF (Safe Quality Food) standards are followed at all times.

Maintenance Interface:

  • Call maintenance personnel as required to maintain productivity
  • Write MWO’s for all maintenance concerns.
  • Performs all other duties or tasks as required by supervision.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Avoid unsafe practices or carelessness. Follow all Company safety rules and policies. Follow all safety rules specific to each machine and/or department.
  • Follows all Company rules and guidelines.
  • Cooperate and team with fellow Peers.
  • Is waste conscious of efforts and materials at all times.
  • Achieve quality product.

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.  Technical or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be a team player with a “can do” attitude.
  • Must be able to think on your feet, work with limited supervision and make sound decisions.
  • Solid knowledge of company policies and the ability to hold people accountable.
  • Good organization, writing and verbal skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and work the necessary times to accomplish goals.
  • Good motivational and coaching skills.
  • Capable of communicating with all levels of internal and external customers.
  • Should possess basic mechanical skills.
  • Must have basic troubleshooting abilities.
  • Must have good computer and math skills.
  • Must be capable of working in hot/uncomfortable environment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly required to stand, sit, move about facility, climb stairs, bend, twist, kneel, crouch or crawl, use hands and fingers to touch, handle, or feel objects, tools and controls, grasp, push, pull, reach with hands and arms, lift above shoulder level. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
