Demand and Supply Planner

 

Job Summary

The Demand and Supply Planner is responsible for generating and owning the balanced S&OP Supply/Demand Plan for their assigned scope (sales organization and/or products).  The expectation is that the Planner gets to a point where they develop a monthly plan that balances service/cash/cost in partnership with their business stakeholders.  This highly impactful and visible role will communicate and present with stakeholders and leaders across the organization.  This role will ensure that the demand signal being used across the organization is aligned with sales and capacity to be used for making decisions in financial planning, manufacturing asset planning, staffing, procurement of raw materials, and final customer fulfillment.  This person will be a key owner in the monthly S&OP process.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities

  • Own the Monthly Demand and Supply Planning process in the Monthly S&OP cycle
  • Partner with the sales and product/business teams to create the 18-month unconstrained demand plan for the assigned scope
  • Maintain SKU level forecasts current in the MRP systems
  • During the monthly Demand Review, summarize the changes to the current 18-month Demand Plan and make recommendations of changes to the owner of the assigned scope
  • Following the review, ensure that all demand changes are made in the ERP
  • Work with the production sites to understand production capability, capacity and other considerations
  • During the monthly Supply Planning meeting work with business stakeholders to balance the demand plan to be within supply capability
  • Present and answer questions regarding the Demand and Supply Plans during the Pre-Exec/Consensus and Executive S&OP meetings.
  • Perform data clean-up in the ERP system
  • Analyze current plan and assess gaps and opportunities considering:
    • Statistical trending
    • Meet with sales team monthly to learn of significant changes to current forecasts
    • Information from the customer service team
    • Meetings with customers
    • Economic indicators
  • Be able to review and/or answer questions regarding the Demand and Supply Plans during the Executive S&OP meeting.
  • On a regular basis participate in meetings regarding capacity and capability of assets in scope and investment needs
  • Communicate changes to demand and supply (increases/decreases) to affected stakeholders in S&OP, Procurement and Manufacturing.
  • On an annual basis, work with the Sales, Business and Finance teams to generate the Demand and Supply Plan for the AOP/budget process
  • Manage customer specific inventory items and review/manage the portfolio of general stock in partnership with the product management team
  • Propose safety stock levels to support service needs, in partnership with the inventory commitments in the supply plan
  • Own and update assigned Master Data in the ERP and Planning systems
  • Other potential projects/responsibilities
    • If required because demand exceeds capacity, facilitate the Allocation process
  • Drive continuous improvements to the S&OP Planning process

    • SKU level MAPE and BIAS
    • Timeliness of the monthly Demand Planning cycle
    • Timeliness of the monthly Supply Planning cycle
    • Management of Inventory Health with Product Management
    • Finished Goods Inventory Days on Hand
  • Secondary/Shared KPI’s
    • On Time In Full (OTIF)
    • Finished Goods SLOB Inventory
    • Raw Material SLOB inventory

Candidate Requirements

  • Relevant BA/BS degree
  • APICS or IBF certification preferred
  • ERP/SAP experience required
  • MRP experience and understanding preferred
  • Experience with Advanced Planning Software tools; experience with Kinaxis preferred
  • Analytical capability
    • Advanced Excel
    • Databases
    • Ability to translate data into information and conclusions
    • Ability to communicate the impact of the analysis
  • Strong judgement and confidence and business understanding to make decisions and challenge stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate with business partners at different locations and different leadership levels
  • Ability to travel (up to 10%)
