Job Title:

Supply Chain Manager

 

Position Summary:

The Supply Chain Manager (SCM) provides proactive leadership and strategic direction in the areas of production planning/scheduling, material planning/scheduling, and distribution planning/scheduling.  The SCM is responsible for all SC personnel, processes, systems, and system data, and for causing the optimal flow of materials, products, and information and in a manner which efficiently support the manufacturing processes and customer requirements.

 

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

The Supply Chain Manager is accountable for achieving optimum Supply Chain performance by perpetuating the following personally and/or through subordinates, connections and/or SPA’s: 

  • Advances initiatives which promote and sustain the safety, health and welfare of all Supply Chain personnel.
  • Ensures all Supply Chain personnel comply with applicable EHSSS standards, procedures and policies.
  • Provides focus, direction, leadership and technical expertise to various Supply Chain and plant personnel.
  • Communicates needs and objectives to managers and key personnel in Procurement, Operations, Logistics and Distribution.
  • Fosters and promotes innovative solutions that drive cost reduction and continuous improvement of the Supply Chain process.
  • Effectively manages relationships between many different vendors and information technology systems.
  • Trains, develops, mentors and assists their peers and subordinates in all of the departments that fall within the Supply Chain process.
  • Continually evaluates the inventory planning and materials control process, methodologies and system tools to drive process improvements where appropriate.
  • Ensures integrity of forecast, product dedication, level loading and new product setup and product transitions.
  • Oversees shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations performance, inventory accuracy, and freight cost.
  • Resolves problems for the Supply Chain Group.
  • Perpetuates continuous improvement of system information and processes including:
            • Order management
            • Item structure, forecast, planning & distribution data
            • Warehouse management & processes
            • Shipping scheduling processes
            • Production scheduling processes
  • Acts as SPA for slow moving & obsolete (SLOBS) reporting & disposition.
  • Facilitates OTC exception root cause and preventive/remedial action initiatives.
  • Supervises, trains and coaches Planners, Schedulers and Distribution personnel.
  • Functions as a member of the Plant Leadership Team.
  • Willingly performs other duties that may be assigned.

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a Supply Chain leadership role, preferably in a manufacturing environment with hands-on experience directing the process which includes the planning of procurement, production, inventory control, forecasting, scheduling, logistics and distribution.
  • Proficient with analytical, spreadsheet, presentation and word processing software (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Strong ERP/MRP system experience.
  • APICS certification preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required. 
  • Ability to effectively present information to executive management and public groups.

Education and Experience:

  • Four-year degree from a University or College in Business Administration and/or related fields required.
  • A minimum of 4 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment utilizing TQM, ISO, Lean Manufacturing, and/or Six Sigma is preferred. 
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
